Great Blue Herons
March 9th to 15th 2010
The Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve heronry is all “a-buzz” with activity at this time of year. The Committee for the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada has assessed the coastal “Pacific” subspecies of the Great Blue Heron as species of special concern. The birds in this heronry are very active and we have found several new nests being built to replace the nests that were blown down in a wind storm last year.
