February, 2013

February 1st to 5th 2013
Water

We are continuing our walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve for the first week of February with birds and ducks of the water in this journal.

Double-crested Cormorants are always around to pose.

Pied-billed Grebes were seen every day; one had a small minnow for its breakfast.

A pretty female Hooded Merganser floated serenely past us at the bird blind one morning.

Mallards were busy selecting mates causing turmoil among the flocks.

American Wigeon were seen every day.

Wood Ducks were regularly found in several spots.

We stopped in at Sardis Park for a short walk one afternoon.

There were the usual American Coots as well as many other ducks.

We found a Eurasian/American Wigeon hybrid and several American Wigeon.
