June 27, 2013

It was another busy day at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve during our walk.

The Resident Bald Eagle’s chick is large and ready to fledge. The adult was perched near the Bullock’s Oriole’s nest which caused it to be mobbed by them.

Two Northern Red-shafted Flickers were seen near the trail.

Willow Flycatchers were seen along the trails.

Great Blue Herons were busy as usual with their chicks at the Heronry.

A male Pileated Woodpecker was showing a new fledgling the best trees and stumps to visit.

Adult and fledgling American Robins were seen.

White-crowned Sparrows were looking for insects in the wildflowers near the trails.

Wood Ducks were seen resting on logs.

A Common Yellowthroat perched on some Fireweed.

Adult and fledgling Song Sparrows were seen.

We waved to Werner on our way down a trail and had a nice visit with Bene on the trail.
