February 17th to 21st 2014

We always enjoy a walk at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve.

The white tailed Black-capped Chickadee is still visiting the area.

Double-crested Cormorants were there as usual.

Eurasian Collared Doves are now a very common introduced species.

Pied-billed Grebes were seen as usual; one got onto a log which is not a common sighting for us.

As we said in the last journal, the Great Blue Herons are starting to gather; every day more can be seen here.

Hooded Mergansers were seen on both lagoons.

Ring-necked Ducks paddled past.

Song Sparrows were seen as usual.

Spotted Towhees were seen in large numbers.

American Wigeons were on both lagoons.

A few American Robins are now visiting the area.

We visited the Rotary Interpretive Centre and had nice visits with Janet, Val, Barb, Helen, Delia, Karen, Billie, Ann and Janet and we enjoyed chats with Joanna, John, Rick, Ken, Hank, Liza and Mattie on the trails.
