September, 2014

September 17th to 20th 2014

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve this week.

Golden-crowned Sparrows were present.

Great Blue Herons were seen.

Dark-eyed Juncos were also seen.

Lincoln’s Sparrows were along the dike road in the Tansy plants.

Orange-crowned Warblers were near the main bridge.

A Peregrine Falcon was seen.

Three Wilson’s Snipes were seen in the slough, past the Heronry.

White-crowned Sparrows were seen.

Wood Ducks were seen as well.

We saw Bear Tracks on the dike road near the Heronry on the 16th and on the 17th we saw the Black Bear running across the farm field next to the Heronry and up onto the dike road. It disappeared into the shrubs in the slough.

We enjoyed chatting with Leona, Janet P., Karen, Ann, Grace and Rod on the trails.
