July, 2015

July 17th & 18th 2015

We enjoyed our usual daily walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack.

White-crowned Sparrows are being seen more often lately.

Juvenile Tree Swallows were lined up on dead branches to be fed by adults.

A domestic Swedish Duck was seen in the slough.

One of the Ospreys came in with a fish for the chick.

Three Bullock’s Orioles were seen at the marshy area past the Heronry.

Belted Kingfishers were perched ready to dive for fish.

A Rufous Hummingbird paused for a moment on a little branch.

Across the slough a Coyote ignored everything around itself while watching several Wood Ducks in the slough. After awhile it watched as Casey walked with Ula along the road.

Across the slough, a Coyote stood on a raised log looking around the area, while further down the slough banks pups played and explored the area. Soon after, she found a place to rest, while the pups continued to explore.

We enjoyed seeing Charlie with Jack, Dean, Casey with Ula, Ann with Cleo and Janet P. and Karen doing a bird count, Debra with Xena, Brenda with Finnegan, Denise with Summer, Larry and Sharon on our walks.
