July, 2015

July 26th & 27th 2015

We enjoyed our usual daily walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve.

Black-throated Gray Warblers were seen.

A Coyote was seen near a cornfield near the Heronry.

The little Willow Flycatcher is still using its same perch.

There is still one nest at the Heronry that hasn’t fledged as yet, we can hear the chicks raucous cries when food is brought into the nest. There was an adult Great Blue Heron at the shoreline in the slough near the Heronry.

A Rufous Hummingbird was seen near the parking lot.

Belted Kingfishers were seen calling to each other as they flew back and forth.

The North Lagoon was like a mirror with incredible reflections to see.

A Bullock’s Oriole was in the Hawthorn.

Adult and juvenile American Robins were in the Hawthorn.

European Starlings were seen along the road near the Heronry.

A Western Tanager was seen in the distance in the Hawthorn.

Juvenile Cedar Waxwings were in the Hawthorn.

Two juvenile Common Yellowthroats were seen near a male.

Beavers were busy both in the sun and shade. They were eating Water Lily roots, dragging Water Lily leaves back to the lodge and checking out big logs at the side of the bank. We believe these are all the same three Beavers we have been seeing.

We enjoyed seeing Dell with Sage, Pat with Maggie, Denise with Summer, Sandra with Izzy, Charlie with Jack on the trails and Manuel.
