November, 2016

November 20th & 21st 2016

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, B.C., Canada.

Beavers were seen on a dark day, one of them was clipping Blackberry stems and eating them.

A male and female Bufflehead flew into the lagoon and paddled past us.

House Finches were seen nearby.

A White-crowned Sparrow was with the Golden-crowned Sparrows in the parking lot.

Pied-billed Grebes were seen both days.

A Great Blue Heron continues to watch the salmon spawning in the Salwein Creek.

The many Heron nests are empty and easily seen without leaves on the trees.

A male Belted Kingfisher was fishing from overhead wires near the South Lagoon.

Mallards were performing a pair bonding “dance”.

A Peregrine was watching from a high branch nearby.

A few Lesser Scaup were also seen.

Wood Ducks are usually seen at this time of year.
