March, 2017

March 14th to 16th 2017

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

Red-winged Blackbirds are singing now.

Green-winged Teal were seen in the slough.

Great Blue Herons were busy nesting.

Hooded Mergansers were seen in the slough.

American Robins were seen along the way.

The first Swallows are returning which is an encouraging sign that the weather may be improving. Both Violet-green and Tree Swallows were easily seen.

Mallards were seen in several areas.

Wood Ducks were seen in several areas.

Weather
March 14 Heavy Rain 46F (7.7C)
March 15 Cloudy 45F (7.2C)
March 16 Cloudy 43F (6.1C)

We enjoyed chatting with Janet, Karl and Marilyn, Krista, Allison with Chesney as well as Cameron on the trails and stopped in for a nice visit with Jean and Valerie in the Rotary Interpretive Centre Gift Shop.
