February 13th & 14th 2018

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

Gadwalls paddled along the water.

Ring-necked Ducks, Canada Geese and Cackling Geese were seen at the far end of the road past the Heronry.

Green-winged Teal were seen near the Heronry.

Double-crested Cormorants were seen as usual.

Hooded Mergansers were seen in a few spots.

Red-winged Blackbirds were seen and heard along the trails.

Trumpeter Swans were seen on the South Lagoon.

Varied Thrush were seen in the Salwein Creek Loop.

Wood Ducks were seen in many areas.

Adult and immature Bald Eagles were seen.

Northern Flickers were seen as well.

Great Blue Herons were seen in a few areas.

House Sparrows are almost always seen.

Spotted Towhees were seen in many areas.

Song Sparrows were seen in a few areas.

We enjoyed talking to Charlie with Jack, Mary and Wilma, Christa, Sandra with Jasmine, Shadow and Elsa, as well as Bob and Shirley on the trails. We enjoyed chatting with Valerie, Barb, Camille, Jean, Bev, and Paulina in the Rotary Interpretive Centre Gift Shop.
