April 10, 2018
We took a very pleasant walk around the pond at Sardis Park today with all the pretty flowering trees blooming.
A leucistic Northwestern Crow was reported to Fraser Valley Birding Forum by Denis Knopp on April 6 2018. We were happy to have it pop up in different areas of the park on our walk. It was keeping company with “normal” Northwestern Crows.
Two American Coots were seen on the pond.
A few Domestic Ducks were seen as well.
Three Bald Eagles were seen. Two adults and a juvenile spent time in the same tree while one of the adults had something to eat.
Denis Knopp also noted that he had seen an Eurasian Wigeon in the same report as the leucistic Northwestern Crow. We were pleased to find it with a few American Wigeons.
A few Canada Geese were on the pond as well.
A male Northern Shoveler saw a female in the pond ahead of him and managed to catch up to her.
It was nice to see Jonathan P. at the park as well.
