May, 2018

May 14th & 15th 2018

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

We often hear the unmistakable song of the Black-headed Grosbeak as we are walking on the trails.

Damselflies were seen in marshy areas.

A juvenile Bald Eagle flew over the Heronry causing a lot of noise.

The Heronry was very busy as usual at this time of year.

We saw American Kestrels as we wandered along.

We watched one of the Ospreys hovering over the water before it dived in for a fish.

A Pileated Woodpecker was seen on the way.

European Starlings were carrying food for nestlings.

Wood Ducks were seen as usual.

Male Common Yellowthroats were seen as well.

At the Lickman Dike Road, American Robins and White-crowned Sparrows used fence posts for perches while the little male Anna’s Hummingbird was still keeping watch on its territory.
