June, 2018

June 22nd & 23rd 2018

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

Amazing Clematis decorate the parking lot fence.

Saskatoon Berries were pretty and almost ready for the birds to eat.

Fireweed and Morning Glories were blooming at the edges of the trails.

A Signal Crayfish was found in the middle of the trail. It took exception to being helped to the edge of the water.

Cottontail Rabbits were seen as usual.

American Robins were feeding young.

One of the Northern Flicker nestling waited for a parent to return.

Tiny Tree Swallow fledglings waited patiently for adults to come with food.

Great Blue Herons were exercising and playing at nesting. One young nestling brought a stick to another nestling in a different nest and the two placed it very carefully into the nest.

The Heronry resident Bald Eagle was watching over the territory, while its nestling preened and exercised.

Red-winged Blackbirds were feeding many impatient young while some males sang their melodic songs.
