July 2, 2018

We enjoyed our usual walk at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

The parking lot fence is loaded with Clematis blooms.

Newly fledged, Great Blue Herons were enjoying their new found freedom, while others were still being fed in the nests.

We enjoyed watching the unusual behaviour of a couple of young Mallards diving in the slough. Mallards are a dabbling duck, it is very rare to see one actually diving but these two young Mallards dive every day.

A few Swainson’s Thrushes are always heard but rarely seen.

Cedar Waxwings enjoy Saskatoon berries.

Weather

We always enjoy seeing Charlie with Jack, Terry with Bogie, Dawne with Finnegan on the trails.
