April 1st & 2nd 2019

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

Wild Cherries are flowering, dotting the landscape with bouquets of white.

Red-winged Blackbirds are eagerly looking for the right nesting site.

Female House Finches were seen in blackberries.

A Northern Flicker was seen on a post.

Golden-crowned Sparrows were seen at the parking lot.

A Lincoln’s Sparrow was also seen in the same area.

Canada Geese were setting up a nest.

Mallards were seen in many locations.

A little Mink paddled past a Swamp Sparrow, then climbed out onto the bank to look around.

Ring-necked Ducks paddled on wind-blown water.

American Robins added some colour to the day.

The slough near the Heronry is beginning to show the greening of spring.

Tree Swallows were seen along the way.

A male Common Yellowthroat put in an appearance.

The marsh resident Bald Eagles are brooding.

Turkey Vultures flew over the Rotary Interpretive Centre.

Song Sparrows were seen in several areas.

Wood Ducks were seen in many locations.

Spotted Towhees were seen in many areas.

We enjoyed seeing Charlie with Jack, Terry with Bogey, Bob, Melinda and Rob with Bosley, Rick, Mick with Roscoe, John V., Werner, Christa, Mary and Wilma, Frank and David on the trails.
