Great Blue Heron

The Heronry was very active with chicks being looked after by adults. Fledgling Great Blue Herons filled the slough full of activity. They got in each other’s way as well as adults trying to get food for chicks. They preened and caught sticks and generally learned about the new world they had entered. They can return to the nest for a few days after venturing out of the nest. This gives them time to settle into their new way of life.
