We enjoyed our usual walk at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.
We enjoyed watching an adult Beaver with a tiny kit, accompanied by two young Beavers swimming around and around in the water before heading back to their lodge. After this was finished, the young Beavers had some time to themselves. We are not sure what this is about but have seen this behaviour several times before in 2018, we think it might have something to do with teaching the young kit about the world outside of the lodge.
Female Common Mergansers were seen as usual at this time of year.
Great Blue Herons were looking after their nests and nestlings.
A set of young fledgling House Sparrows worked at getting attention from their parents.
Eastern Kingbirds were seen along the way.
Mallards have started to moult.
A Peregrine Falcon was hunting in the area near the Heronry.
American Robins were seen as usual.
Willow Flycatchers were seen along the trails.
Wood Ducks were seen as well.
Common Yellowthroats were seen in many spots.
