July, 2013

July 28th to 31st 2013

We had really nice walks over the last few days at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve.

In a dark, hidden area there were three Beavers grooming each other while another was swimming past a couple of Hooded Mergansers on a log.

A male Common Yellowthroat was drying off after a bath.

A Swainson’s Thrush was seen for a moment.

Cottontail Rabbits were seen in several areas.

Juvenile Great Blue Herons were seen in many areas.

A Green Heron was seen in the distance.

The Willow Flycatcher was seen on her nest, she is far enough away from the path that she is not in any danger of being bothered. Another Willow Flycatcher stopped for a moment before continuing on in its constant search for insects.

A few Eurasian Collared Doves were seen.

The farm fields are loaded with corn now, this field had red silk on the corn.

A few Coyotes were checking the field for rodents.

We enjoyed a chat with Jon and Mary on the trail.
