November 10th & 11th 2016
We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, B.C., Canada.
One day, we saw a Beaver with a leaf balanced at the back of its head.
There were quite a few Bald Eagles in the farm field and nearby the Heronry one day.
A Great Blue Heron was seen fishing near the entrance to the Salwein Creek.
A male Belted Kingfisher was perched on overhead wires. This vantage point gave him a good look at the water below.
Karen pointed out a Northern Shoveler near the Heronry.
A small group of male Hooded Mergansers performed for a few female Hooded Mergansers while two Wood Ducks watched from a log.
There is a good number of Eurasian Collared-Doves near the Rotary Interpretive Centre at the moment.
We watched a flock of Swans fly over, they were a mixed flock of Trumpeter and Tundra Swans. They landed in a nearby farm field.
In a nearby farm field, there was a flock of over 1090 Snow Geese. This is the largest flock of Snow Geese we have seen in our area. Usually, at this time of year we are lucky to see one or two.
