We enjoyed our usual walk at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

Black-capped Chickadees are one of our favourite birds.

Red-winged Blackbirds voices were ringing through the trails.

Buffleheads floated past, diving for food and resurfacing to dive again.

Double-crested Cormorants rested on logs.

Dozens of Mallards were seen in many areas.

Two Brown Creepers marched up tree trunks.

A male Downy Woodpecker worked on a nest cavity, preened for awhile then tried out the hole it had carved in a tree, while his mate was searching for insects nearby.

A female Hairy Woodpecker checked out a tree a Beaver had been gnawing on.

Dozens of Great Blue Herons flew overhead. They are gathering before nesting.

A male Hooded Merganser was seen with its mate.

Dark-eyed Juncos were seen in many areas.

A few Steller’s Jays were seen.

Golden-crowned Sparrows were seen near the parking lot.

American Robins are being seen more often.

Song Sparrows were seen as usual.

European Starlings were seen as well.

Several Trumpeter Swans flew past.

Spotted Towhees were seen as usual.

Several Canada Geese were seen on our walk.

Wood Ducks were seen in many areas.
