January 5th to 7th 2019

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

Friendly little Black-capped Chickadees are a resident of our area.

Double-crested Cormorants were seen as usual.

A Northwestern Crows was seen along the way.

The resident Bald Eagles were near their nest site.

Golden-crowned Sparrows were seen near the Rotary Interpretive Centre and parking lot.

Common Goldeneyes were seen near the Heronry.

Pied-billed Grebes are one of our favourite little duck-like birds.

House Finches were seen near the Rotary Interpretive Centre feeders.

Hooded Mergansers were seen in the slough.

Mallards are usually seen.

Wood Ducks were seen as usual.

The mountains in the distance were snow covered.

Two Ruby-crowned Kinglets were seen near the South Lagoon.

Ring-necked Ducks and American Wigeon were also seen.

We enjoyed seeing Frank and Corrie, Liz and Gordon with Boomer, Janet doing a bird count for the Great Blue Heron Nature Society, Sue and Ulla, Delia, Dick, Kevin doing a bird feeder count for the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve Society, Werner, Christa, Bill, Alyson with Chesney, Karen and Robert with Roxy on the trails.
