February 13th & 14th 2019

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

Black-capped Chickadees were seen along the trails.

A female Common Merganser was seen from the Main Bridge.

Double-crested Cormorants were seen every day.

The mountains in the distance were dusted in snow.

One of the resident Bald Eagles flew past as we wandered along the trail.

Pied-billed Grebes were seen from the Salwein Creek Bridge.

Great Blue Herons were seen resting on logs surrounded by newly fallen snow.

An Anna’s Hummingbird was seen near the Rotary Interpretive Centre feeders.

Dark-eyed Juncos were seen in many areas.

The banks of the Salwein Creek were snow laden.

Song Sparrows were seen in many spots.

The South Lagoon was frozen and covered in snow.

Trumpeter Swans found a small strip of water to swim and bath in. They used the ice nearby to rest and preen.

Spotted Towhees were seen in many areas.

A Varied Thrush was seen near the Rotary Interpretive Centre.
