May 2019

May 5th & 6th 2019

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

A couple of Beavers were seen near the Heronry.

The Great Blue Herons were very busy at the Heronry. We have seen chicks in the nest over the last two days.

A few American Robins were seen along the way.

Killdeer and Least Sandpipers were seen in the farm field.

Common Yellowthroats were seen on the sides of the trails.

Tree Swallows were nesting.

Red-winged Blackbirds and Brown-headed Cowbirds were seen at the far end of the road past the Heronry.

At the East Bird Blind, a Red-eared Slider Turtle sunned itself while a couple of Raccoons fished in the reeds.

Further down the trail, the Bushtit nest has survived the weather while housing the soon to be new family inside.

Wood Ducks were seen in many locations.
