We enjoyed a short walk along the Lickman Rotary Trail today.
We were surprised and pleased to find a Common Merganser with two ducklings. The ducklings were hitchhiking a ride on her back when we first saw them. Soon she shook them off but they got up on her back again. She let them stay for awhile before they got off her back by themselves, paddling after her to a stump in the water. They got out of the water for awhile but decided to choose a different stump where the ducklings could have more room to nap.

There were the usual Tree Swallows and Common Yellowthroats as well.
