February 23rd to 25th 2021

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

We saw a very interesting hybrid Mallard crossed with an American Wigeon. It was on the North Lagoon with a few American Wigeons for awhile. When we returned it wasn’t there. It was never relocated after our first sighting.

The Great Blue Herons were gathering on the 23rd but took time to shelter from the snow. They were found in the marsh behind the Center Bird Blind.

Mallards and Canada Geese were seen.

Wood Ducks are always available at this time of year.

Green-winged Teals are usually seen.

Spotted Towhees are usually around.

Anna’s Hummingbirds were seen as usual.

A flock of American Goldfinches were seen in the distance.

Golden-crowned Sparrows were seen near the lagoon.

Coyotes were seen in the grass near the Heronry.

Common Mergansers were seen in the slough.

A Beaver paddled past during one of our walks.

We practiced social distancing from Alyson and Randy with Chesney, Charlie with Jack, Terry with Bogey, Werner, Melinda with Bosley, Cathy with Tula, Beverly with Mogli and Sampson, Brian, Mary and Wilma during our walks.
