September 1st to 8th 2021

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

We are always happy to find Beavers when we are out for a walk.

A Downy Woodpecker preened near the entrance gate.

A Black-throated Gray Warbler was seen for a moment.

An Olive-sided Flycatcher was seen at the far end of the road past the Heronry.

Nearby, in the shade of shrubs, we found a little Willow Flycatcher.

Anna’s Hummingbirds were seen in many areas.

Lincoln’s Sparrows are always a treat for us to see.

Orange-crowned Warblers were seen in a few areas.

Townsend’s Warblers were a nice surprise.

A few Warbling Vireos and Red-eyed Vireos were seen near the parking lot.

A few large flocks of Cedar Waxwings were seen.

Immature White-crowned Sparrows were seen.

One morning, we added a walk at Sardis Park.

Canada Geese were seen.

Juvenile Mallards were a surprise at this time of year.

Northern Shovelers were nice to see.

Yellow-rumped Warblers were seen in a Willow.

We practiced social distancing from Charlie with Jack and Bogey, Lisa, Terry and Jamie, Leona, Carol with Lincoln and Winston, Ron with Ginni, Melinda with Bosley, Mark, Liz and Gordon with Boomer, Carolyn, Leona and Werner, Penny, Larry and Sharon, Sheldon, Elsie with Blue, Karen with Gunner, Andrea, Josie with Izzy and Goose, Terry with Bogey, Alyson, Randy, Jed and Bronwyn with Chesney, Christa, Leona and Werner, Sue and Ulla, Mick with Roscoe, Jon P., Tove with Benji, Brian during our walks.
