March 1st to 3rd 2024

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

American Coots were visiting.

Double-crested Cormorants were seen near the Main Bridge.

A resident Bald Eagle gathered nesting material while two other residents were perched near their nest with snow on Vedder Mountain behind them.

A Northern Flicker was seen near the slough.

A Canada Goose stood on a submerged log.

The Heronry is active. Some Herons were out looking for food, while a juvenile from last year was fishing in the south lagoon.

House Finches were seen near the Rotary Interpretive Centre feeders.

Lincoln’s Sparrows were seen around the slough.

Ring-necked Ducks paddled past.

American Robins were seen in many locations.

A Red-tailed Hawk perched on a snag.

The Sharp-shinned Hawk watched the Rotary Interpretive Centre feeders.

Spotted Towhees were seen.

Wood Ducks were seen in the slough.

White-throated Sparrows were seen near the Rotary Interpretive Centre feeders.

It was nice to see Jody with Jasper and Wilma, Alyson with Chesney, Steve with Chimo and Rosie, Sarah with Claire, Ruth, Terry with Bogey, Ron with Ginni, Ruth, Chris, Christa, Antony during our walks.
