March 2024

March 4th & 5th 2024

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

There was snow falling on the 4th. The trees at East Bird Blind looked frosted, we could see Great Blue Herons sitting in the trees. Others were trying to fish while the snow fell on their backs. The next day, was sunny with Great Blue Herons enjoying fishing.

Double-crested Cormorants and Common Mergansers were difficult to photograph with the snow falling. The next day a Double-crested Cormorant was seen on a log.

On the 5th, Cackling Geese were seen landing in the farm field next to the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve.

Mallards were seen on the 5th.

A River Otter was seen in the slough.

Ring-necked Ducks were seen along the way.

Wood Ducks were also seen.

American Robins were seen in many locations.
