Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve
September 19, 2010
Another nice day at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve; it was a really good morning for a walk.
A Mourning Dove was foraging in the gravel of the pathway.
Pied-billed Grebes were on both Lagoons.
A small Hawk perched overhead watching for something to eat.
Great Blue Herons fished from logs.
Belted Kingfishers were seen near the North Lagoon and Salwein Creek.
A Lincoln’s Sparrow paused for a second or two before flying into the underbrush.
There was a Cottontail Rabbit lounging at the edge of one of the paths. We changed direction and left it resting there.
Ring-necked Ducks were all over the South Lagoon.
Song Sparrows were hopping around everywhere.
Spotted Towhees were seen or heard along every path.
A Cedar Waxwing peered at us from a Cottonwood branch.
White-crowned Sparrows were easily found.
Yellow-rumped Warblers were seen near the main bridge.
A Common Yellowthroat was seen at the Salwein Creek area.
We stopped in at the Rotary Interpretive Centre for a visit with Janet before heading home.
