July 5th to 7th 2014
We started out at the Lickman road dike on a couple of mornings this week.
Lazuli Buntings were feeding their young so we did not stay long.
White-crowned Sparrows were seen as well.
After the Lickman road dike we headed to the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve.
Ken D. told us about a Green Heron at the East Bird Blind, thanks Ken.
A Great Blue Heron was also seen at the East Bird Blind.
Common Mergansers were seen on the North Lagoon.
A Muskrat was seen from the Salwein Creek Bridge.
Click below for a video of the Muskrat.
American Robin fledglings were seen nearby.
A Northern Rough-winged Swallow carried a large supply of insects for its brood under the main bridge.
White-crowned Sparrows were seen near the Rotary Interpretive Centre.
A few Wood Ducks were seen at the East Bird Blind.
A juvenile Common Yellowthroat was seen near the main bridge.
We stopped in at the Rotary Interpretive Centre for a nice visit with Gordon and Dick and waved to Mair on our way out as she was coming in to open the Gift Shop. We also enjoyed a nice chat with Ken D. and Jon on the trail.
